What We Believe

About the Bible

The Bible, the Old and New Testaments, is God’s word to all mankind.  It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.  It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.  Because it is inspired of God, the truth that is revealed through it is trustworthy and without error.  (II Timothy 3:16)

About God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe.  He has eternally existed in three co-equal persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  (II Corinthians 13:14)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the full revelation of God in human flesh and shares in the complete character and being of God.  Being co-equal with God, He was born of a virgin; lived a sinless human life; and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind throughout all ages by dying on the cross.  He arose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death and ascended to heaven where He reigns as the King of kings and Lord of lords and serves as the Mediator between God and man and the role model for all Christians until His physical return to earth to establish His kingdom. (Philippians 2:5-11)

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, as the third person of the God-head, is present in the world to bring all mankind to a knowledge of Christ by the conviction of sin; to indwell the body and life of every believer through the coming of the Holy Spirit at the time of their salvation, and to gift all believers for the ministry of the Gospel in the world.  (John 16:7-13; I Corinthians 12:12-13)

About Man

Man is a unique creation of God, created male and female and sharing His image and likeness.  They are the supreme object of the creation, marred by disobedience and disbelief and in need of being restored to relationship with God through Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23)

About Salvation

Salvation is the process where God begins, through a gift of grace initiated by man’s faith response to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, a new life and spiritual journey with Christ.  It restores man’s broken relationship with God and provides forgiveness and peace with God and bestows eternal life on the new believer. (Ephesians 2:1-10)

About Eternal Security

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ as a gift of grace, the believer is secure in the salvation for eternity.  Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God and not by the self-effort of the Christian. (John 10:29)

About the Church

The church is the body of Christ manifested through the lives of those who have come to know Christ as Savior and Lord.  The church, as the gathering of believers, is committed to worship, teaching, fellowship, and encouragement through developing relationships and ministry.  The church, as the distributed believers, is committed to ministry to others, sharing the message of Christ and making a difference in Jesus’ name in people’s lives and the world.  (Hebrews 10:24-25)

About the Priesthood of Every Believer

We believe that everyone has equal access to God because of the saving ministry of Jesus Christ.  We believe that God, through the call to salvation, has gifted and ordained every believer to be a minister in the world and is responsible to God for the faithful stewardship of those gifts.  (Ephesians 4:11-16)
